Dear All,
This will be the last youth e-newsletter for the year. Cue in sighs of relief, exhaustion or devastation! Last night we celebrated our final youth-led Mass in Whyalla for 2014, but tomorrow we begin discussions for something similar in Port Augusta for 2016.
As we prepare for the big event – the birth of Jesus into the world and in our lives, it is a good time to look back over the year that has been. How have we experienced Christ's presence in the highs and lows, joys and griefs, extraordinary and ordinary times this year? How have we nurtured the light of the Spirit in others, particularly the young in our diocese, this year? How have we used our means and resources – including gifts, skills, technology, knowledge – to advance God's mission on earth this year?
It is also a good time to think about the future, as we begin the Church's new year this Advent. Next year the diocese will be focussing on the family. So read Bishop Greg's message to young people for this time. It will also be the Year of Consecrated Life, and there will be many opportunities to learn about this in 2015. For starters, the Missionaries of God's Love have produced an animated series called 'Discernment for Dummies'.
For all those involved in youth and young adult ministry who are moving on in 2015, thank you enormously for the gift and blessing that you have been to us. We wish you well for your new endeavours as you spread the light of Christ in other fields. For all those who will be here again in 2015, thank you, God bless and see soon. God willing, we shall all meet for Harold's ordination and the Diocesan Youth Assembly on March the 7th and 8th.

“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.” Luke 6:27
I like this verse because I believe it is true. No matter who you hate you should always treat them with respect because you don't know what they are going through.

A Funny to Finish the Year
|
|
A lady lost her handbag in the bustle of Christmas shopping. It was found by an honest little boy and returned to her. Looking in her purse, she commented, "Hmmm.... That's funny. When I lost my bag there was a $20 note in it. Now there are twenty $1 coins." The boy quickly replied, "That's right, lady. The last time I found a lady's purse, she didn't have any change for a reward."
