Dear All,

What an exciting time in our Church this month, as Pope Francis released the encyclical Laudato Si’ on the care for God’s creation: our common home. A topic that many young people are passionate about, this document gives spiritual, theological and moral calls for us to work for the good of the planet and all who share it. For some quotes from it from a youth ministry perspective, see http://www.projectym.com/laudato-si-and-youth/.

A reminder about the scholarship opportunities for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival – apply now! There is also a promotional video now out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPFnoDtXWz8 and registrations for groups are open. Opportunities for workshop presenters, performers and expo stalls are available and applications are due soon. On Tuesday the 30th of June and Wednesday the 1st of July I will be travelling with Festival Coordinator, James Meston, around the diocese to promote the Festival. For our diocesan information, visit: http://www.pp.catholic.org.au/caring-for-our-community/youth-and-young-adult-ministry.

I have also included a photo from a recent Whyalla Youth-led Mass and information about the Ignite Youth Conference in Brisbane.

In Peace,

Bible Verse Like
“Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath. Do not fret – it leads only to evil. For the wicked shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.” Psalm 37:8-9

This verse is a favourite of mine due to the hopeful and positive message it conveys. This verse can be applied to situations in my own life in relation to “fretting” having a lot to do with stress, worry and paranoia, feelings that often come into play for me. The verse goes on to say that this behaviour leads to evil, and that those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. I interpret this as a way of saying that we should put these feelings aside and be patient.

Festival Incounter Stallholders
INcounter is the name the Australian Catholic Youth Festival has given to its expo. INcounter aims to provide an interactive space for participants to encounter the breadth of the Catholic Church of Australia in new and unexpected ways.  INcounter will be a hive of activity which young people will return to again and again, from stalls to music and activities. It will be the place to be.

INcounter aims to offer young people a variety of the churches missions. Consequently, INcounter lays down a challenge to creatively re-imagine how stallholders engage with participants, beyond flyers on a table. INcounter will be characterised by engagement, connection, relationship and fun.

Potential stallholders are asked download and submit an INcounter Stallholders application http://www.youthfestival.catholic.org.au/index.php/involvement/stallholders.  Limited and varied space is available, so be creative!  Applications close on Friday August 28th.
