Bible Verse Like
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”

Because its true cause I think we all get tempted but not beyond what we can withstand.

Pub Theology: 3 Keys to Discernment, a Marist perspective
3 August, 6:30pm

Rob Roy Hotel, 106 Halifax Street, Adelaide, South Australia 5000

It's vocations week - and we have the Marist Brothers down for the next event of Pub Theology

TOPIC: 3 KEYS to Discernment

Many young adults feel like they are treading water, not sure of how to make the next move, whether it's in relationships, travelling overseas, making a career change, or moving deeper into a chosen vocational pathway. How are we to discern where God's voice is calling us amidst competing options? The church's tradition of discernment comes to the rescue in offering three ways to uncover our deepest calling. Brothers Greg and Rod will facilitate a simple but effective way for making life's choices.

SPEAKER BIO: Br Greg McDonald and Br Rod Thomson are Maristers, who have had years of experience working with young adults, helping them discover their vocational pathways. Hailing respectively from Taree on the coast of northern NSW and Shepparton in country Victoria, their visit to Adelaide will assist us all to make good decisions about our future.

U.N. Climate Summit- Sign the Petition
In late November 2015, world leaders will meet in the U.N. Climate Summit at Paris to sign a treaty to tackle climate change. After decades of failed negotiations, we need to increase the pressure on our governments for them to be more ambitious to solve the climate crisis.

Pope Francis endorsed this petition and is ready for climate action. What about you?

Ultimately, we aim to raise a strong Catholic voice supporting Pope Francis’ words: “On climate change, there is a clear, definitive and ineluctable ethical imperative to act.”

Our church ministries are poorer without young people’s ideas and enthusiasm
Matt was pretty nervous, but I knew he had it in him. He was a high school student going with me to another school to give a talk about a program to help disadvantaged families through Vinnies… Matt had a passion for helping disadvantaged people...

He reminded me of the young guy in this week’s Gospel. Jesus and his disciples are with a huge crowd. Jesus wants to feed them, but his disciples are a bit clueless about how to do it. Then a boy comes forward, possibly inspired by the Lord’s teaching, and offers his own food…

Too often older people treat young people as if they’re too young to have good ideas. And, unfortunately, too often young people don’t trust their own ideas or lack the self-confidence to voice them. As a result, I think we lose good youthful ideas for living the Gospel and changing the world.

Our church needs your “bread,” your wisdom. Our church ministries are poorer without young people’s ideas and enthusiasm. Our world comes closer to God’s Kingdom each time a young person speaks up and says, “I think we should …” So speak up…The Spirit is aching to speak through you.
