Dear All,

Today is the International Day of Peace. We pray for peace in those many war-torn areas of the world, that fighters will learn non-violent and consultative methods. We pray for peace in the places away from the battlegrounds, where effects of war and the movement of people cause other kinds of conflict. We pray for peace in our Church, our country, our communities, our families and within ourselves. May we all come to experience the peace of Christ, which the world cannot give.

I am happy to announce that we have finished collecting all of the favourite Bible verses from our diocese and are now in the process of creating illustrations, from primary school students.

Below find a preparation event for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (in Port Augusta in the school holidays), updates on the diocesan ACYF plans, a World Youth Day event Polish Wyprawa (party) in Whyalla, a youth ministry job, Pope Francis comic strip and ‘Donate’ a joke for the Pope and a good cause.

God bless and Peace,

Bible Verse Like
“For I know what plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace and not for disaster, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I like this verse because it can be used to help others in their time of need/distress. Also it is/can be inspiration for others as it was for me.

May, 12, Port Augusta

Theme song chosen

‘Where can we see God?’, a simple question that triggered a young song writer to compose the lyrics chosen as the theme song for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) this year. Taking the theme of the Festival, ‘Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God’, Genevieve Bryant asked herself, ‘where can we see God?’

The question prompted a deep musical response in singer-song writer Genevieve. ‘When our eyes are truly opened we see God as the poor and thirsty, the heart of justice, the lost and searching.’

‘When we proclaim this belief, God gives us the grace to be pure of heart,’ which reflects the title of the song, pure of heart.

The young artist composed the lyrics after experiencing ‘an incredible energy’ at the festival in 2013. ‘I wanted to write a song that captured both the theme of the festival and the vibe that’s created when so many young people come together to celebrate their faith.’

‘I am so excited to be a part of it all again this year’, the Melbourne based artist added.

The festival song will be professionally recorded over the coming weeks and will be published on youth festival website.

Joke with the Pope
Donate a Joke. Tell a joke and change the world

“Donate” a joke to support a cause, and you might be named Honorary Comedic Advisor to the Pope…and that cause will receive $10,000.

Here is one of the donated jokes:

There was a man who entered a local paper’s pun contest… He sent in ten different puns, in the hope that at least one of the puns would win…Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.
