Dear All,
Today we celebrate the start of the Jubilee Year of Mercy – a time to receive and give mercy. Let’s start small, as Pope Francis says, “A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.” But it won’t end there...May mercy spread in bigger and bigger waves until we are all swamped!

I and 46 others from Port Pirie have just returned from a wonderful 3 days at the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. We had a chance to connect with, be supported and encouraged by the young heart of the Church from across the continent. We felt the Spirit move to bring us hope and joy as we deepened our experience of faith, learned from others and contributed to making the world a better place. There will be more reports to come, from the young attendees, but we have some photos to share below.

God bless and Peace,

A Prayer of Mercy
God of Love and Compassion
Help us to open doors of Mercy in our
communities, in our families and in the world.

Let mercy guide our loving and bring us
closer to the heart of the Gospel.

May we live as Jesus, with mercy that
welcomes, loves, forgives and calls us to
live the gospel joyfully

Amen

WYD2016 Theme Song-"Blest are the Merciful"
Song: Blest are the Merciful, created for World Youth Day 2016 in the Jubilee Year of Mercy: http://wyd.org.au/resources/pastoral/world-youth-day-song

Verse 1

I lift my eyes to the mountains;
from where shall help come to me?
My help will come from the Lord, my God,
for He is merciful!

Verse 2

When we are lost, He searches for us,
To hold us in His arms,
His holy Blood will heal our wounds,
To breathe new life into us!

Refrain

Blest are the merciful;
blest are the merciful,
for it is mercy that shall be shown
to those who show mercy.

Verse 3

Unless the Lord for gives when we fall,
We wouldn’t be able to stand.
But He forgives, He pardons us all.
Let us do the same.

Verse 4

God paid our debts with the Blood of His Son,
Who rose alive from the tomb.
The Spirit within cries out to the world:
Jesus is the Lord!

So cast aside your fear and have faith,
give your cares to the Lord
and trust in Him, for He is risen:
the Lord, your God, is alive!
