Dear All,

I hope we all have a few heartfelt moments this Holy Week, as we live again the story that makes us all Christian. One story that I have found particularly poignant is below, a true Easter moment from the Good Oil e-magazine.

There is some good news to share about YCS below, as well as resources for the Year of Mercy and Pope Francis.

A Passionist blog has also highlighted the impact of buying new mobile phones, laptops and DVD players. This issue affects young people the most, who are pressured into having the latest technology. If we see the negative impact our purchases can have, we might think of alternatives, such as sharing, buying second hand or looking for more ethical items. See the article below.

In Holy Week hope,

Sr Elizabeth Young

YCS Port Lincoln
I was present in Port Lincoln recently for the launch of the new YCS group. It was led by Miriam Santic, a year 10, who had been to the YCS National Conference in Melbourne and been elected as diocesan representative. She gave an excellent presentation on what YCS is and why it is good to join. The students present were inspired to participate and create actions in line with their faith, as young Christian leaders. Well done, Port Lincoln! See photo on the right.

Pope Francis – Care for Creation
The Pope’s prayer intention is: “That we may take good care of creation –a gift freely given– cultivating and protecting it for future generations.”

The Pope Video is an initiative by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network to disseminate the monthly intentions of the Holy Father concerning the challenges facing humanity. The Global Catholic Climate Movement is a a proud partner of this initiative.
