Dear All,

The school holidays have brought two lovely events for a few young people of our diocese, that should impact greatly on many others. The first was a preparation event for our World Youth Day pilgrims. Over 2 days we reflected on our journeys, listened to the spiritual messages of World Youth Day, discussed faith in times of war and trawled through a pile of logistical considerations. We also had an exciting hour off at Latitude – a new trampoline, rock climbing and adventure park. Through all this we got to know each other better and prepared for a journey that will mark our lives and inspire many others through our transformations.

Secondly, two Port Pirie students and myself attended a state-wide YCS camp that focussed on the 'SEE' section of the national campaign – Climate Justice. It was terribly impressive to see our students run the sessions and come up with an impacting and creative action – to call for SA's ban on plastic bags and 10c can/bottle recycling to be implemented in other states.

I also have some photos of Steph Unger's visits to St Mark's in Port Pirie and St Barbara's in Roxby Downs. She was an amazing witness of faith and music to change us and help us believe in our God-given potential. At St Mark's, she worked with the music and RE teachers to help shape school liturgical music. I found that session extremely relevant and would be happy to share my notes if you are interested.

See below for the open position of Coordinator of the Office for Youth and Young Adults in Adelaide. There is also a wonderful homily from Pope Francis for teenagers and an article about the calling of the lay missionary.

Many blessings this week and Peace,

Homily from Pope Francis
Have a read of this great homily from Pope Francis, addressed to teenagers visiting Rome. It covers themes of love, happiness, life: basically the big issues!

Prayer for Young People
Lord Jesus,
I thank You for my life and for all the good qualities You have gifted me with. I thank You for friendships, family life and for so manyopportunities to grow.
I thank You for inviting me to walk closely with You and to continue to proclaim and deepen what You stand for; love, justice and peace.
Thank You for living with me through your Holy Spirit and encouraging, loving, forgiving, healing and empowering me.
Touch my heart and renew me with Your presence. Fill me with joy. Continue to mould and nurture me, so that I will never be afraid to respond to the needs of others and Your world, and turn to You in times of difficulty and distress.
I trust You with my past life, my present situation and with my future.
Today I decide again to accept You and You alone as my God.
I truly desire to know You better.

Amen.
Bishop Joe Grech
